The Division of Public Health Nursing performs a variety of professional and scientific work within the various fields of nursing.
The practice is population based, that is, based on a process that determines:
- The health status of the community
- Identifies the population at risk
- Determines the priority health problems of the community
- Plans, implements, and evaluates public health strategies accordingly at community, systems, or family/individual levels.
Our commitment to the community, families, and individuals served originates from our beliefs that all persons, regardless of circumstances, are entitled equally to a basic quality of life and respect for worth.
Most of our interventions are independent nursing functions as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act.
