The City of Fall River’s Grant Writer assists all City Departments and the Public School Administration in seeking grants to support City functioning.

The Grant Writer works with other Departments to identify grant-seeking needs and to prepare grant applications. The City seeks grants from State and Federal sources as well as foundations and other private grant-making institutions to supplement its budget.
Recent successes include awards from:
PetSmart Charities to establish a trap-neuter-release program to reduce and control the feral cat population.
Massachusetts 2020 (an education non-profit leading the Expanded Learning Time Initiative with the Massachusetts Department of Education) to provide the Cove Club project to students at the Carlton M. Viveiros Elementary School, in partnership with Battleship Cove, as part of the school's ELT academic enrichment activities.
Amelia Peabody Foundation to provide a variety of enrichment and recreational activities to youth in Fall River's first Community Learning Center located at the Carlton M. Viveiros Elementary School.
The Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents to provide a safety and health education and training program to municipal employees, which will promote safe and healthy conditions in the workplace.
Fall River Women's Union to sponsor the summer teen movie series at the Fall River Public Library.
